Special Event for 2009 - Snapshot of Axminster

A Snapshot of Axminster is being taken by the public on digital cameras to form an archive that will be handed down to future generations so if you are in East Devon on 09.09.09 (9th September 2009), Axminster Photography Group in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Axminster are inviting all amateur photographers to take a snapshot of the town for future generations to see and become part of the history of Axminster.
Both visitors and residents are invited to take photographs of this historic market town famous worldwide for its carpet industry on 09/09/09. Your pictures will form part of the record of local life and retained in the archives of the town. With all the pictures taken that Wednesday, a DVD is to be created as a time capsule, a snapshot in time, that will be presented to the town’s mayor to form part of Axminster’s legacy to the future.
Everyone is invited to take part in the event and to go out with their camera on 09/09/09 to take record shots of street scenes, people, fashion of the day, buildings, shops, offices, businesses and agriculture, the restoration of the station and rail line, old buildings in decline, congestion in the town. We want both Axminster residents and visitors to portray AxminsterTown and surrounding area as seen through their eyes. This will be confined to history; a memory of how Axminster was that can be viewed in the many decades ahead.
The photographs entered will be recorded and archived as part of the town’s history, a selection of which will be included on a DVD to be produced prior to Christmas and offered for sale with all profits going to local charities, more details later.
